Who is responsible for your data

The Banded Mongoose Research Project is a research project based at the Centre for Ecology and Conservation, University of Exeter, Penryn Campus. The University of Exeter is the data controller for personal data collected through this website.

The University publishes its own privacy notices, including one for research participants, and an index of all its privacy notices. Those govern the University's wider activities. This page covers only what this website does.

The contact form

If you use the form on our contact page, we collect the name, email address and message you type in. We use them for one purpose: to read and reply to your enquiry. We do not use them for marketing and we do not sell or share them.

The form is delivered by Web3Forms, a third-party service that receives your submission and forwards it by email to the project's University of Exeter inbox. Your message reaches us as an email and is retained in that mailbox for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.

Legal basis: our legitimate interests — responding to people who choose to contact the project. You are never required to use the form; you can email us directly instead at M.A.Cant@exeter.ac.uk.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets no cookies of its own, and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. There is nothing to opt in or out of, which is why you will not see a cookie banner here.

Maps

Some pages (Contact, About the Project) embed a Google Maps map, which loads with the page. When it does, your IP address is sent to Google and Google may set cookies, under Google's privacy policy. No other page contacts Google.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., which automatically records access logs (IP address, browser, page requested) for security and to keep the site running. Site content is managed in Sanity.io; it holds our published pages, not your personal data.

Legal basis: our legitimate interests in operating and securing the site.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, and to restrict or object to how it is used. If you are unhappy with how your data has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
